Christopher Garibian – NJ Family Law & Divorce Expert
“I’m especially grateful to you for being a rock in the storm at the start of all this, when things were especially crazy. You kept me calm at some of the scariest moments of my life. You are a wonderful lawyer: strategic, helpful, reasonable, and knowledgeable. It’s been a pleasure working with you … Thank you again.” **

Christopher “Chris” L. Garibian is a Partner at Weinberger Divorce & Family Law Group, LLC. Chris’s accomplished practice is exclusively concentrated in matrimonial and family law matters, including divorce, child custody, alimony, child support, equitable distribution of assets and liabilities, grandparent rights, adoption, LGBTQIA+ matters, domestic violence, post-judgment enforcement and termination issues, matters of finances for couples who share children and are not married, and all other related family law matters.
In every case he represents, Chris is driven by a core commitment to “help humans.” He respects the extreme personal importance that family law concerns require and fully brings his expertise to bear for all of his clients, whether they come to him with one issue that needs to be resolved or it is a complex, high net worth matter with multiple points of contention. Chris’s deep passion for family law is drawn from a case early on in his career when, as a criminal law attorney, he stepped in to help a divorced parent protect their son from a violent family situation. As a direct result of his advocacy, a child was safe and no longer afraid. Inspired by the ability of family law to guide individuals and families out of tough times, he has since dedicated himself to this area of the law, building up vast legal experience in every facet of family law and earning the deep trust of his clients.
Christopher Garibian has an unwavering mission to effectuate positive change. Connecting with his clients on a personal level, Chris listens carefully to their needs and goals and provides clear “legalese-free” answers and information about their rights. Chris’s approach is to ensure his clients have the confidence and peace of mind of knowing they are truly on the best path forward by creating a comprehensive action plan that keeps his clients informed of the law as well as providing a range of outcomes for every major decision in their case.
A highly skilled litigator, Chris is a zealous advocate and voice for his clients when their divorce and family matters need to go before the courts. He will always pursue the resolution method that prioritizes his clients’ best interests. Therefore, he uses his litigation background to understand when his client’s specific situation is better suited for an out-of-court resolution rather than a litigated courtroom battle.
Christopher Garibian is Certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Matrimonial Law Attorney, a designation of advanced family law mastery achieved by less than 0.5% of attorneys statewide. As a Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney, Chris is a true family law expert. His legal expertise and advanced ability to provide deeper insights enables him to provide his clients with creative solutions and resolve even the most multi-layered of family law matters. As one colleague described Chris, “Chris is hands-on, caring and resolute when it comes to his client’s needs.” Chris has volunteered for over two decades with the Jersey Battered Women’s Services providing pro bono services for those in need of restraining orders. Recognizing the complexity of domestic violence issues, he also defends those falsely accused in domestic violence matters.
Chris graduated with his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and holds a B.A. from Rutgers University. Chris is admitted to the New Jersey Bar Association. He is actively involved in various organizations that help to promote family law in New Jersey, including membership in the Morris County Bar Association, New Jersey Association of Justice, New Jersey State Bar Association. Chris is also a Qualified Rule 1:40 Mediator for clients interested in privately mediating their matters.
Outside the courtroom, Chris is an avid hiker. He is a hike leader for the Catskill 3500 Club and a member of Hikers Anonymous and the Catskill Mountain Club. He holds a recent Certification in Wilderness First Aid, CPR and AED Certification via the American Safety & Health Institute. Whether it’s assisting someone through their divorce, or supporting them safely off a mountain, it is through helping others that Chris finds constant renewed passion and purpose in his life.
